The people most responsible for GSW's game 6 loss are: Barnes, Kerr, Curry, Livingston, Green, Thompson. Why Barnes is obvious. Kerr for poor play strategy and also letting Barnes played so many minutes (though less than his normal average) when he was playing so bad. Barnes clearly should not be in their future line up since he is not that good facing tough defense. Even Tristan Thompson is more worthy of this hefty salary than Barnes. Curry actually played rather foolishly, not only because of his stupid fouls in all these games, but also because he never realized that the defense around the opponent hoop was usually very tough so he should avoid attacking the hoop and shoot even more 3's than he did. Attacking the hoop would typically result in turnovers or blocked shots! For example in game 6, Curry shot 2-7 at 2-point line & 6-13 at 3-point line. It's obvious which kind of shots are more efficient. Each 2-point shot got average 0.57 point (2x2/7) while each 3-point shot got 1.38 points (6x3/13). Even when 2-point accuracy is slightly better than 3-point, the latter is more efficient just because each shot can get 3-point! This has been the case for him most of the series (also true in the Thunder series where defense around the hoop was tough). His play style has been fixed during the regular season where the hoop defenses were usually not that tough. He needs to change that for the playoff. Livingston also shot poorly in the game. Green had not defended Tristan Thompson well and allowed him to grab too many rebounds and scored many points. K Thompson really didn't play with his best effort in the game. There was one loose ball where he had a good chance of grabbing first if he had run a bit faster, but he was slow. ... |
